GM truck seat belts rip at 71,000 miles - Seat Belts rip

At 71,000 miles on my 2008 Chevrolet Silverado the driver's seat belt started ripping on both edges. The damage was quickly diagnosed by the dealer as sharp edges where the seat belt comes out of the B pillar on the side of the truck cab.

The regional service manager decided that this was "normal wear and tear" and said that GM would not participate in repair costs.

Seat belt failure as normal wear and tear at 71,000 miles???

When I called GM they told me that the regional service manager has the final say, and that she has no supervisor that I could communicate with.

HOGWASH!
